POP FICTION

Pop Fiction was born out of Summit Books’ mission to bring literary hopefuls to a wider, book-reading audience. It all began when She’s Dating the Gangster, an online story posted in Candymag.com’s TeenTalk forum was picked up, edited, and published by Summit Books in March of 2013. A month after its release, She’s Dating the Gangster shot to the top of National Book Store’s Philippine bestseller chart and is now a major motion picture—proving that little-known works can become mainstream sensations. To date, Pop Fiction holds a roster of over 30 titles that have proven to be nationwide bestsellers and certified fan favorites.

Launched in 2013, Pop Fiction (Popular Fiction) is a Summit Media imprint aimed at teens and young adults. Most of the stories published by Pop Fiction are from the social reading website Wattpad and the website CandyMag.com. All authors behind the Pop Fiction books are exclusive writers for the label (excluding Aly Almario (alyloony), who is now under VIVA-PSICOM).

(According to http://pop-fiction.wikia.com/wiki/Pop_Fiction_Wiki?action=edit&section=20)

As of now, Pop Fiction Books have 103 published books including Teen Fiction, Adult Fiction, Cloak (stories that are mystery and science fiction) and some are movie tie-in books ; when a book becomes a movie, the movie tie-in cover will be the artists who’ll be the cast of the movie.

The first one is a cover of an Adult Fiction, then the cover of a Cloak Pop Fiction. The third one is a movie tie-in edition of She’s Dating the Gangster and the last one is a cover of a Teen Fiction. we can notice the difference because only the teen fiction have border and the others don’t have. But when Pop Fiction reached 100 published books, they’ve changed the cover. And here it is:

This two is the newest release of Pop Fiction books and we can see that the illustrations and the cover upgraded! My other co-popfictionatics said that the cover upgraded a lot compared to the old covers.

VIVA PSICOM

psicom

(According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIVA-PSICOM_Publishing)

Viva PSICOM Publishing Corporation also known as Viva PSICOM, is a publishing company jointly owned by Viva Communications and the Gabriel family. PSICOM was founded in 1990 by Arnel Jose Gabriel as a small desktop publisher, which later evolved into publishing the first Filipino wholly owned trade newspaper, the now-defunct Philippine IT Update.

PSICOM rose to fame through the Diary ng Panget series written by HaveYouSeenThisGirL from the online writing site Wattpad, and since then, many authors have been contacted to publish their online novels into paperback format. This event has led Viva Entertainment and PSICOM Publishing Inc. to forming a new corporation named, “Viva PSICOM Publishing.”

SITM

lucid dream

These two is an example of published books under Viva PSICOM. The first one is Stuck In The Moment (SITM) by nerdyirel (Irel Christine Balite) and the second one is Lucid Dream by alyloony (Aly Almario). SITM has only the first part so the readers are still waiting for the part 2 of the book while Lucid Dream has complete parts and it is a standalone book.

LIB CREATIVES (Pastrybug)

LIB

Life Is Beautiful (LIB) is owned by Precious Pages Corporation and a sister company of Precious Hearts Romances, Black Ink, etc. This page is managed by the writers under LIB. One of this is also Pastrybug that publish books from the online app Wattpad.

pastrybug

So, this two is an example of a published book in Pastrybug. This is In Search Book 1 and 2 by chibi_love. The books are divided into two parts. I think they are dividing it into two parts because if they compress it into one book, it will be too thick. In Pop Fiction, they are editing the book so it will be book worthy and can be compressed into one book only. They are deleting the unimportant parts of the book unlike in Pastrybug, it depends on the manuscript of the author.

BOOKWARE (Pink & Purple)

pink and purple

Pink & Purple is the imprint of Bookware Publishing Corporation, the publisher of the Tagalog romance pocketbooks—My Special Valentine. It is published by Bookware Publishing Corporation Unit 301 3rd Floor Rizalina 2 Annex Building,1677 Quezon Avenue,Quezon City, Philippines.

This two are published books of pajama_addict under Pink & Purple. I haven’t read her books but they said that they’re all good too. It is available at all bookstores nationwide and the price depends on the thickness of the book.

BLACK INK

blackink

Black Ink is composed of stories written in English, Tagalog, or Taglish and illustrated as Comics or Manga. It’s genre are Action, Fantasy, Adventure, Horror, Drama, Romance, Comedy, Boys’ Love, Girls’ Love, etc. and it is owned by Precious Pages Corporation.

These three are published under Black Ink comics and can be bought as 79.75 pesos at all bookstores nationwide. It has illustrations and dialogues like manga but for me, the stories are cliffhanger and you’ll still crave for more. Haha! But overall, it is more lively because of the illustrations unlike other books that has no pictures and has texts only.

They’re some of the publishers here in the Philippines. You can view my book reviews about their books and other stuffs. 🙂
